Kia to launch new diesel 48V mild-hybrid powertrain in 2018

Kia Motors will introduce its first 48V diesel mild-hybrid powertrain in the second half of 2018. The new ‘EcoDynamics+’ powertrain reduces CO2 emissions by supplementing acceleration with electric power from an additional 48-volt battery and extending combustion engine ‘off time’ using a new Mild-Hybrid Starter-Generator unit.

Kia’s new global ad campaign takes flight with Peter Pan

Kia Motors has launched a new global advertising campaign, featuring characters from the beloved story of Peter Pan. The three-minute film, entitled Peter Returns, is a re-imagining of the classic children’s tale and offers a futuristic take on Peter’s ongoing conflict with Captain Hook. Peter, joined by trusted companions Wendy and Tinker Bell, is on a mission to bring new technologies to the inhabitants of Neverland, who, until now, have been prevented from enjoying the fruits of technological progress thanks to the selfishness of nefarious pirate Hook.

Kia Motors Europe appoints new Chief Operating Officer, with...

Kia Motors Europe has appointed Emilio Herrera as its new Chief Operating Officer. He replaces Michael Cole, who is set to take up a senior role elsewhere in the global Kia Motors organisation. Mr. Herrera will be based at Kia’s European headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany, working alongside the company’s president, Mr. Yong Kew Park.

2018 Red Dot Awards: another triple triumph for Kia design

Kia has triumphed again in the Red Dot Awards, securing three prestigious awards for design. The new Stinger fastback sedan, the Stonic compact crossover and the third-generation Picanto city car all won in their respective categories. The international jury of design experts awarded the Stinger the ‘Best of the Best’ title, praising the car for its pioneering design.

Kia Motors builds its three millionth car in Europe

Kia Motors has manufactured its three millionth car in Europe since production began in Žilina, Slovakia in 2006. The three millionth car to roll off the production line is a Kia cee’d. The car is a white five-door hatchback in GT Line specification, built for a customer in Iceland. It is fitted with a 1.0-litre T-GDi (turbo gasoline-direct injection) engine.

Global Kia Sportage sales hit five million

Kia Motors is celebrating five million cumulative sales of its global best-selling Kia Sportage compact SUV. Launched in 1993, and spanning four generations since, the Kia Sportage has achieved this milestone on the year of its 25th anniversary. The latest model, launched in 2016, is more popular than ever, with average global sales of 38,000 units per month in 2017.

Kia celebrates new UEFA Europa League sponsorship agreement

Kia Motors held a partnership inauguration ceremony in Geneva, to celebrating becoming an Official Partner of the UEFA Europa League. The three-year sponsorship agreement commences in time for the 2018/19 season, and runs through to the UEFA Europa League final in 2021.
